Have you ever thought about writing a play but didn’t know where to start?

This workshop, led by established West Yorkshire playwright Shazia Ashraf, helped wannabe Alan Bennetts and JB Priestleys learn how to bring their ideas to dramatic life.

‍

From initial idea forming and development, to storyboarding, to learning to write scripts, this was the perfect starter session for those taking their first tentative steps into the glorious world of theatre writing.

‍

UK South Asian diaspora voices like Ayub Khan-Din, Hanif Kureishi, Meera Syal and Pravesh Kumar have all brought the stage to glorious desi-infused life over the past few decades. Let’s hope some West Yorkshire names can join that illustrious list soon!
