BSAF Story Corner

Are you sitting comfortably? Then let storytime begin!
Bradford South Asian Festival is all about stories - owning our stories and celebrating South Asian culture by telling our stories, our way.
So what better way to pass that principle down to the next generation than to host a storytime session for younger BSAFers.
Our friend from the National Literacy Trust's Bradford Literacy Hub, Imran Hafeez, hosted a storytelling session for our younger visitors, sharing some lovely children's books by South Asian authors.
As you can tell, the young ones were completely immersed, with Imran ensuring it was a fun and interactive session.
The Bradford Literacy Hub does lots of work in grassroots communities to encourage literacy, and to nurture a love of reading for pleasure in young people.
They work especially in communities where traditional library services might be quite low or they might be underused.
As well as the work they do with storytelling sessions, the Hub also operate a Bradford Stories Bus which travels around communities and events hosting pop-up storytelling sessions, with special guests and children getting access to free books to take home. It's ultimately about nurturing literacy by boosting book borrowing and ownership, especially in areas where there are gaps for both.
